I had a great 30th Birthday thanks to my family, friends and a WHOLE lot of shopping. I'm not typically excited to shlep through a million retail stores in search of the perfect throw pillow, but after deciding I wanted to give my living room a much needed make-over, I quickly got into the spirit.
On Sunday this Mom in Boyland is about to wave goodbye to her tumultuous twenties, and say hello to the
thrilling thirties!
I'm super stoked about the idea of not being in my 20's anymore. They say you get better with age, now I'm actually starting to believe it.
Bullying among kids has always been a part of our culture. I remember, at times being the only Black girl in my elementary school. I was picked on for having different hair, dark gums, and even pushed once on the playground by a
BITCH misguided girl named Jessica Greco. It's extremely hard going through adolecsence without feeling like everyone is secretly making fun of you behind your back---or in my case, right to my face.
I have a confession to make...I'm a sucker. I fully admit, when it comes to Nolan's adorable cries I cave faster then my husband tempted with BBQ ribs (ask him, he'll agree). It's so hard to hear your child "cry it out" and do NOTHING about it. When it comes to bedtime Nolan wants nothing more than his mommy to nurse him to sleep.
This works fine when I'm exhausted and want him to be out in under 10 minutes. But, anyone else putting him to bed can have disastrous ramifications.
I'm taking a mental siesta today. So instead of my usual superfluous didactic gems, I'll let Betty White drop some knowledge on ya.
I often say I'm going to breastfeed Nolan until he's 18. That's totally normal, right? Well let me explain myself, not only is my milk the most nurtitionally beneficial choice for his growing body, but did you know breast feeding can burn up to
500 calories, PER DAY! How did I not know this?
